Technical Assistance Visits in Ohio
A Technical Assistance Visit is an internal "self reflection and evaluation" and an external snapshot of current efforts in place to increase student achievement. It is designed to help district/school stakeholders assess progress, identify changes needed in fully implementing the HSTW/MMGW goals, key conditions and key practices, and reinforce improvement efforts already in place. Implementing HSTW/MMGW sites are required to conduct an initial site Technical Assistance Visit (TAV) in the first year of implementing the school improvement design and a continuing site TAV every three to five years thereafter.
A TAV is not evaluative; rather, it represents efforts by the visiting team and the school to improve student learning. The process will help to identify promising practices, gaps in student achievement, challenges, and provide recommended action steps and research-based resources.

In Ohio, each of the four regional offices is responsible for assisting the state in managing the HSTW and MMGW school improvement design model.
